The fallen reaching from rotten wombs
The vanguard are retreating
The victors circle, the ravens will be feasting on the freshly dead
Leave the rotten meat, from which disease will spread

Splintered pikes, see the horse impaled
Armour smashed by axe and flail
A storm front is approaching, the earth trembles
As final lines assemble, their pageantry defiled
Despair the call, as the last standard falls

The ranks enclosed, death stalks around
The bodies piled, upon a burial mound
As they prepare to fall,
Their finals moments, watched by hungry rats their greedy eyes enthralled,
Armour slick with blood, on gods they call, there’s no answer as the last standard falls

Amidst the silence of the fallen
Among the screaming of the dead
As gods watch on their misguides sons
Clinging to the false embrace hope
